What to Do After a Rejection (To Win the Next One)
Rejection is data. Mine it.
Every rejection has 1–2 lessons in it. Most candidates skip them and repeat the same mistake.
Step-by-step
- Send a gracious thank-you note within 24 hours
- Ask for feedback — specifically, not generally
- Identify 1 thing that's structural (resume, targeting) vs. 1 that's tactical (a specific answer)
- Adjust before the next application — don't carry the same gap forward
- Take 24 hours off the search if needed, then resume
The candidates who win in week 8 are the ones who debug their week 4 rejections.
